Co-Curricular Clubs

CCC has a total of 9 co-curricular clubs. These clubs rotate every Friday and meet during homeroom. Ethics Bowl Club (semester 1)

Moderator: Dr. Michael Clark

Ethics Bowl is great preparation for a future attorney, legislator, or researcher. During our weekly gatherings, Ethics Bowl club members are presented with 15 real-life ethical dilemmas ranging in topic from dating a friend’s ex-girlfriend to global terrorism and from genetically modified food sources to cheating on homework. Members of the Ethics Bowl club research solutions to these varied ethical dilemmas and prepare arguments and rebuttals for the National High School Ethics Bowl regional competition in February. During the competition, CCC’s teams face off against other schools to determine who should qualify for the national Ethics Bowl competition.

Brain Bowl (semester 2)

Moderator: Dr. Michael Clark

Are you a future Jeopardy champion or a Trivia Master? Brain Bowl is for YOU!!! We meet each week to challenge ourselves and expand our knowledge base so we can demonstrate our prowess at the annual Brain Bowl competition held at St. Leo University each spring. Question: Who loves all kinds of trivia and enjoys the experience of intellectual competition? Answer: See you at Brain Bowl!

 

Quill and Scroll

Moderator: Lisa Dundas

 

Students who have in interest in developing their multi-media skills and being an active member of the school community are invited to join. We will develop skills and showcase student work in photography and writing through publishing the yearbook. We will work on video production skills and encourage members to start their own broadcast or contribute to the Marauder News show played weekly on YouTube. Other areas include digital design, social media campaigns, writing contests, and more. In addition to school publications, this club allows members to earn scholarships and graduation distinctions.

 

HOSA

Moderator: Sharon Ligon

The Medical Scholars Club is a dynamic student-led organization dedicated to empowering future healthcare professionals through education, leadership, and service. As an official HOSA- Future Health Professional chapter, we align with HOSA’s mission to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and enhance the delivery of quality care to all people. Our club provides hands-on experiences, leadership development, and competitive opportunities that prepare students for real-world roles in medicine, nursing, public health, and beyond. Through workshops, guest speakers, community outreach, and HOSA events, members gain critical skills in teamwork, communication, and clinical knowledge. We believe that healthcare is more than a career –it’s a calling. The Medical Scholars Club fosters curiosity, compassion, and commitment, encouraging students to explore diverse pathways in medicine while building a supportive community of peers who share a passion for helping others. Whether you’re dreaming of becoming a surgeon, a researcher, or a public health advocate, this club is your launchpad.  

 

Math Competition

Moderator: Gabrielle Noyes

 

The Math Competition Club (Math Club) is for students who would like to explore what they learn in the classroom further through problem-solving, competition and the meeting of like minds.  Students compete in teams and as individuals in state and national contests.  Members should be in Honors level mathematics or in Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, but not required.

 

 

Robotics Team

Moderator: Sharon Ligon

The Robotics Team and Tech Club offers students a venue for exploring engineering and scientific issues at a deeper level. Technology is the real-world application of scientific discoveries, so the Tech Club explores ways that scientific discoveries have been made manifest in our world. In a ‘reverse engineering’ sort of way, the Tech Club strives to discern the scientific principles underlying the plethora of technological gadgets that surround us. Students also delve into engineering robots and exploring the basic principles of robotics and the programming necessary to control robotic elements. Our activities are centered on building devices and taking mechanisms apart to see how they work. The Club built a computer; and we have dissembled numerous computers, VCR’s, microwave ovens, copies, and sundry other machines.

 

Entrepreneurs Club

Calling all innovators, inventors, visionaries and risk-takers! Is there a great idea rattling around in your head that needs to get out? Have you ever wondered how to start your own business and put your talents to work for you? Well stop dreaming and start doing! The CCCHS Entrepreneurs Club can help you formulate your ideas, create a business plan and launch your own enterprise. So, do you have what it takes to enter our Shark Tank? 

 

 

Model United Nations

Moderator: Regi O’Brien

The Model United Nations Club offers Clearwater Central Catholic students a chance to debate world issues from the diplomatic stance of foreign nations. Its purpose is to promote awareness and understanding of global issues in the context of the United Nations. Members attend a yearly conference collaborating with schools all around Florida.

 

 

Praise Band

Moderator: Siobhan Rivera

 
The Music Ministry for our all school Masses, which are held once a month. The Praise Band provides music to complement our Liturgical Celebrations. We are actively looking to secure students who have an interest or background as vocalists or instrumentalists and have a heart for Our Lord, His Blessed Sacrament and God’s people. We hold practice two – three times prior to our monthly all school Masses; beyond that, we lead music for the all school liturgical celebrations.  Praise Band fluctuates with membership from 7 to 12 student and 2-3 adults.

Drama Club

Moderator: Russ Wendt

 

You do not have to be in the plays or in a Drama class to be a member. If you play sports, belong to other clubs, it doesn’t matter! Come out and join us! If you have talents, if you don’t know if you have talent, even if you are certain you don’t have talent, please come out and join the Drama Club because all are welcome. Be a part of the productions, go to district and state competitions, have a blast and make some great friends!

 

Environmental

Moderator: Lori Landmeyer

Environmental works in conjunction with Keep Pinellas Beautiful to participate in various community cleanups and educates others on the importance of environmental concerns that not only impact our campus and our community, but the world around us.

 

Marauder Meadow

Moderator: Christina Ahmed

A place where your love for nature grows! You can contribute to CCC's garden by helping care for our plants, as well as the community gardens in our area.

 

Forensic Science

Moderator: Theresa MacLennan

The Forensic Science Club offers students the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of crime scene investigation and forensic analysis. Members will actively participate in hands-on activities such as fingerprinting, analyzing handwriting, studying blood spatter patterns, and examining mock crime scenes. The club focuses on developing critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while connecting science to real-world applications in law and criminal justice.

 

Fashion Upcycle

Moderator: Leanne Knoop

Members collaborate by collecting and donating used clothing in order to help the community and protect the environment by reducing waste.

 

Spanish Interest Group

Moderator: Marcella DeCastro

Hone your language skills in CCC's Spanish Club! You'll be able to volunteer in cultural events and train for the Florida State Spanish Conference in the spring.

 

Science Olympiad

Moderator: Ashley Crews

Science Olympiad is a national STEM education non-profit and competition that inspires students in pursuing careers in STEM. Students engage in lab experiments, collaborative discussions, and more. Science Olympiad is very fun and educational, giving students a way to compete and learn new skills.

Morning Star Amigos

Moderator: Andy Shannon
Morning Star Catholic School, a mission of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, recognizes the unique educational needs of students.  The school provides an ungraded curriculum in which students can achieve their full potential.  Morning Star Amigos is a CCCHS student club that fosters a strong bond between our school and Morning Star Catholic School so that both of our schools may enrich the other.

 

Catholic Relief Services

Moderator: Andy Shannon

 

CRS was established in 1943 and it serves as the overseas justice and peace agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. CRS’ tagline is “Need not Creed.”  For every $1.00 donated to CRS, $.94 goes to people who are in need, and CRS is routinely hailed as one of the most effective 501c3’s by Charity Navigator. CCC was the first Catholic High School in the state of Florida to sponsor a CRS Chapter starting in the 2020-2021 school year.

 

Water 4 Mercy Student Service Chapter

Moderator: Beth Lani

The CCC Chapter of Water 4 Mercy was established in July 2021 to engage students at Clearwater Central Catholic High School in the philanthropic and humanitarian efforts of the international non-profit organization Water 4 Mercy. Providing the '1-2-3 Punch'to permanently end thirst, hunger, and poverty in our world, Water 4 Mercy uses innovative technologies to provide clean water, agriculture, and educational solutions, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa.  Students in the CCC Water 4 Mercy Student Service Chapter have a passion for helping others, a desire to make an impact, and an interest in gaining leadership skills. Read more.

 

Key Club

Provides opportunities for members to service the community through volunteering, build character, and develop leadership skills.  This club focuses on the core values of leadership, character building, caring, inclusiveness, and creates caring leaders who transform our communities. CCC members work with sister schools like St Cecelia, Espirito and organizations like Kimberly House and St Vincent DePaul.

 

Community Builders

Moderator: Dr. Venturella

Community Builders is an interest group that aims to fulfill the schools mission and is dedicated to making a positive difference in both our school and the community around us. Our events often include visiting and helping around the senior living facilities, but also we have plans to do other services in our local community. We work together to build strong connections, bring people together, and make our community a better place for everyone. The only way these events can occur within the club is if there are members. So become a community builder today!

Peer Ministers

Moderator: Andy Shannon
Students who have passion for God and compassion for God’s people, show evidence of a committed relationship to Jesus Christ and love the adventure of sharing Jesus Christ with our campus and world. Rising juniors and seniors can apply in the spring and must attend a local parish/church. Peer ministers help coordinate underclassmen retreat programs and other pertinent areas of campus ministry.

 

Student Ambassadors

Moderators: Tara Shea McLaughlin '81 and Corey Wells

Student Ambassadors assist the Admissions Office by representing CCC at presentations to partner schools and assist with events such as Back-To-School Night, Discover CCC Night, and Marauder Encounters.  Ambassadors are expected to be articulate, personable, outstanding role models and good students. Student Ambassadors are obliged to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have no failing grades. Ambassadors are chosen in the Spring from the freshman class through nominations and an interview process.

Student Council takes place at each class level and is overseen by the Executive Council. Each class (9th-12th) has its own council, selected annually. Councils are comprised of homeroom representatives and class officers. Homeroom representatives interview for their position in front of a panel of teachers. Officers are elected by their classmates after campaigning and giving a speech in front of their class. Appointments are made at the end of the school year for sophomore, junior, senior and executive councils. Freshmen appointments are made at the beginning of the school year.
