IB Biology and IB Marine Biology teacher Mrs. Amy Carboni participated in the Ecology Project International fellowship over Easter Break. There she worked with 12 other teachers from around the world to learn about the ecology of Yellowstone National Park. The fellowship learned techniques to gather research data as Global Citizen scientists and observed wildlife up close.
During her trip, Mrs. Carboni also met renowned author Rick McIntyre, whose books have documented the reintroduction of the wolves to Yellowstone National Park. He has a personal connection to and accounts of the wolf packs, developed while documenting their social and pack behavior!
Founded as a nonprofit organization in 2001, Ecology Project International [EPI] creates positive long-term environmental impacts through its science education programs, conservation initiatives, and engagement with local communities and partners.Through its Global Initiatives, EPI aims to minimize the divide between scientific knowledge and the broader social change needed to address the issues of degrading climate and declining wildlife habitats. EPI funds and delivers educational programming for the local communities at all of its field sites with a focus on science, wildlife conservation, and social & emotional development.
