Travel Experiences

As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, it’s critical that our students become more culturally aware, explore new ideas and grow their potential. Students who partake in educational international travel opportunities grow their social skills, connect to their studies outside of the classroom; and set themselves apart when applying to college and their future careers.  The following travel opportunities are currently available.  Students who are interested in participating in any travel opportunity must complete the Intent to Participate Form for each trip.

IV GIMNAZIJA, CROATIA – CCC EXCHANGE PROGRAM

The exchange between the IV Gimnazjia School in Zagreb, Croatia and CCC has been in existence since 2002. The IV Gimnazjia is a public high school specializing in languages with all of the participants speaking English exceptionally well. The exchange is designed to provide an opportunity for the visiting Croatian student to experience “life in American culture.” In turn, when CCC students visit Croatia they have the opportunity to experience “life in Croatian culture and history” and learn what day-to-day life is like in another country. Many of our students who have hosted a Croatian student have in turn been hosted by that same student during our annual visit there.

The following opportunities are annually available for this exchange:

HOSTING: Croatians students typically visit us in November of each year and stay with CCC host families. Parents Involvement Hours may be awarded for hosting a Croatian student.

The only requirement for hosting a Croatian student is the willingness to accept them into your home and family routine(s) for the time they are here. Typically, they arrive on Saturday evening and the weekend is spent getting to know their host family. Families will be able to plan activities for the remainder of the weekend; it doesn’t need to be out of the ordinary from your weekend life. The school will plan an itinerary of events for the week they visit. Some days they will be in school and will shadow their host student, some days they will be doing an activity (visiting local government offices, touring local museums, Busch Gardens, things of that nature). Most of the activities take place during the school day.   Students who are interested in hosting a student from Croatia should contact Ms. Maureen Denison in the administration offices or at [email protected] or (727) 531-1449.

VISITING: CCC students typically travel to Croatia in March of each year and stay with Croatian host families (often with those students who had visited CCC the previous November). Students interested in traveling to Croatia should contact Ms. Maureen Denison in the administration offices or at [email protected] or (727) 531-1449.
