Marauder Football Playing for State Title

Well, Marauder Nation... they've done it again!

For the second year in a row, the Marauder football team will travel to the capitol city of Florida to vie for the State Championship – making history as the first football program from Pinellas County to ever make three state title game appearances. CCC also joins Shorecrest and Dunedin as the only county teams to ever reach the finals in consecutive seasons.

As reported in the Tampa Bay Times, the undefeated Marauders (13-0) return for a state final rematch on Thursday at 10 a.m in Tallahassee against Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna, the team that defeated them 48-14 in the same game last December.

“I hope (Chaminade-Madonna) knows we’re a different team than we were last year,” CCC head coach Chris Harvey told the Times. “We have that experience now and I think we have shown how tough we are this year. We showed it again tonight.”

Last Friday's game against Jacksonville's Trinity Christian proved a battle for the record books, as the Marauders trailed by two touchdowns in the first quarter, only to steadily surge back, taking the lead in the second half, and pulling out a 39-32 victory in James Brian Thomas Stadium.

In preparation for the mid-week game, all CCC classes will be remote this Thursday, allowing for athletes and fans to make the trek north to Tallahassee and back in time for on-campus classes to resume on Friday.
