CCC Awarded Grant

Recently, CCC was awarded a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the Michael Namey AED Initiative which was launched in memory of University of Central Florida freshman Michael Namey who collapsed in class and passed away from cardiac arrhythmia due to cardiomegaly. Firehouse Subs has joined with the Michael Namey Initiative to raise awareness for sudden cardiac arrest on school campuses by providing CPR/AED training and increasing access to automated external defibrillators (AED).

Worth more than $10,000, this grant gifted CCC with eight Philips HeartStart onsite AED’s, five HeartStart onsite stand-alone training devices and two 5-pack adult/child manikins with accessories. These additional AED’s give CCC the opportunity to place a device in each campus facility.  The training devices and manikins are being used to educate and train students, faculty and staff in CPR and the use of AED’s.
