Mathematics Department Philosophy
The Mathematics Department works to build-up a student's confidence and self-esteem by enhancing their competency and understanding in mathematics. Specifically, the members of the Mathematics Department aim to develop their students as problem-solvers; to encourage and expect them to apply learned concepts in situations beyond the realm of the classroom; to think clearly and logically; and to master those concepts and skills necessary for further study and for life."

_________________________________________________________________________________ Math Students Achieve Above Global Levels The Advanced Placement Calculus AB course is offered to CCC students who have successfully completed Honors PreCalculus by their junior year. This course awards college calculus credit at most universities if students attain at least a 3 out of a possible 5 on this exam. Level 5 is considered by the College Board as students who are “extremely well-qualified” , level 4 students are considered “well-qualified”, level 3 students are considered “qualified”, level 2 students are considered “possibly qualified” and level 1 students are not given a recommendation. The chart below describes how CCC students (CCC %) do compared to all students (Global %) at each level. On average, twenty-four students are in Clearwater Central Catholic’s Calculus AB class and on average 172,000 students take this exam globally.
