PURPOSE
The purpose of the Spanish Honor Society is to recognize high student achievement in Spanish and promote a continuity of interest in Hispanic Studies. |
Moderator: Mrs. Patty Ceraolo
Expectations of a Spanish Honor Society Member:
Therefore, it is required that members are regularly enrolled in a Spanish class and have maintained an A average in the study of Spanish for a minimum of three semesters.
The Spanish Honor Society is involved in service opportunities such as Footprints Ministry and the toy drive at Christmas for Hispanic families. All members should actively help with these activities in order to make them successful.
We are also involved in activities around school for the purpose of promoting interest in Hispanic Culture. Our main event is the Christmas party in December which all members should attend.
Rules:
1. Meetings will be held on Mondays, in room 202, every two-four weeks. In order for this society to function, members must take part in the meetings. Meetings are mandatory, however a total of two are allowed to be missed.
2. It is mandatory to attend the induction in April to support fellow members joining the society.
3. Behavior befitting an Honor Society member is expected during the course of the year. Serious disciplinary offenses may result in immediate removal.
4. Support of all service projects and activities, as well as respect for all members is required.
Qualifications: A regularly enrolled student who has maintained an “A” average in the study of Spanish for a minimum of three semesters is eligible.
Activities:
Members of the Spanish Honor Society organize a toy/gift drive during Christmas time that benefits low-income Hispanic families in the Clearwater area.
In 2005 the SHA members provided Christmas dinner and gifts for twenty-one families in our area.
