John Davis Retiring

Clearwater Central Catholic High football coach John Davis announced his retirement after 34 years in coaching, including 22 years as a head coach and 14 years at CCC. He has compiled a 178-74 record which ranks him 4th all-time in Pinellas County and 1st among active coaches in wins. In his 22 years as a head coach, Davis’s teams have made 18 State play-off appearances, won 12 District Championships, and four Regional Championships, and made one State Final appearance.
Coach Davis is currently in his second stint at CCC. He was named Head Coach in 1994 and stayed until 2002. He returned to CCC in 2010 after coaching Countryside High School to a 66-24 record and became their all-time winningest coach. He returned to CCC in 2010 and the Marauders have gone 60-14 in his 6 years back. Overall Coach Davis has a 112-50 record at CCC. This past season he was named the 3A Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year.
Coach Davis and his wife Marilyn have three children: Lavana (34) a University of Miami graduate where she attended on a full athletic scholarship. Lavana is married to Chris Harvey who is in his first season as assistant head coach at CCC. Jay (31) is a 2001 graduate of CCC where he was the first Marauder football All-American. He was a former quarterback at North Carolina State University and is now the Offensive Coordinator at Truman State University. Laura (29) is a 2003 graduate of CCC and the former class president. She is a graduate of the University of West Florida. She manages a corporate political action committee in Washington D.C. The Davis’s are also proud grandparents of Brianna Lee Harvey (7) and Bailey Christine Harvey (4).
