Pope Francis has appointed distinguished CCC alumnus David Toups ’89 a Bishop and his first assignment will be in the Catholic Diocese of Beaumont, Texas. Ordained a priest in 1997, David most recently served as Rector and President of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. Prior to that, he served in parish ministry as both parochial vicar and pastor in the Diocese of St. Petersburg; was professor and dean of students at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary; and served as the Associate Director of the Secretariat of Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. He has published numerous articles and is the author of the book “Reclaiming Our Priestly Character”, which is based on his doctoral work and was published by the Institute for Priestly Formation in 2008 (revised 2010).

Our prayers are with our distinguished alumnus, Bishop-elect David Toups, and with all in the Catholic Diocese of Beaumont.
